Being a digital map of ready-made garment factories

All ready-made garment factories in Bangladesh are coming under the digital map. When the work is completed on Google Map, geographical location including names and addresses of the garment factories, the number of workers, the number of women and male workers, the production does not stop, the production of any kind, the customer who, the nearest hospital and the fire service station, the factory involvement with the trade union etc. Information can be found.

Each factory has an account for updating any information on the digital map itself. BRAC University's Entrepreneur Development Center (CE) will work under the Digital RMG Factory Mapping in Bangladesh (DRFM-B) project. Under the C & A Foundation's funding and the garment industry owners' organization BGMEA, the company will do the work within four years.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed inaugurated the project on Saturday at the Apparel Club of BGMEA office in the capital. BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman, BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Syed Saad Andalib, General Manager of C & S Sourcing Bangladesh, Shantanu Sinha, CID Adviser Rahim B Talukder and Project Director Parvin Sultana Huda were present on the occasion.

BGMEA president said, "Digital mapping will help to sustainable development of garments industry."

Siddiqur Rahman said some NGOs, labor leaders and intellectuals have been campaigning for negative garment industry. If the industry is damaged, the workers will lose their job. He said, 'Many people think that all businessmen are eating leprosy. But no one says that we are giving the job. '

The Commerce Minister said, those who do not have trade unions in the country, they are our 100% factory unions to trade unions. He complained that the buyers are keeping us under pressure to buy the goods at a lower price. He said, the Accord has said that till 2021. They will see the issue of labor rights again. But it is the matter of the Ministry of Labor and the ILO.

Tofail Ahmed said everyone should prepare for the next parliamentary election. If the government wants a government, no such claim will be done. Under this government and through this Election Commissioner, elections will be held within 90 days before January 29, 2015. Election will be free and fair. He said, 'Hope all the politicians will participate in the next parliamentary elections.'
